A fire on board a trawler of Port-en-Bessin (Calvados), Sunday evening, while he was 51 kilometres northwest of the cap D'antifer, near Fécamp. Monday noon, the boat sank.

The four men to crew safely

"A strong explosion then occurred on board the trawler on fire, heavily damaging the structure of the ship", explains the maritime Prefecture.

The crew of the Fabrice-Dani e l, Port-en-Bessin 22 s metre long vessel, gave the alert Sunday to 22 h 20. Refugees on the survival raft, the four men were collected by another fishing vessel, Victor-Constant.

The crew is healthy and except but shocked and mild hypothermia. The four men were hoisted by a Navy Dolphin helicopter and headed to the hospital in Bayeux, in the Calvados.

The fire lasted all night

The star of the national society for rescue at sea of Ouistreham remained on the spot, to care for the damaged ship.

"The fire continued to burn throughout the night," explains the maritime Prefecture.

The rescuers of the strategy have managed to control the fire Monday 6 p.m., the maritime authorities felt that there was "little hope of saving the boat". Around noon, the hull fire has finally sunk off.
