An ongoing documentary project and web series called A Sustainable Reality: Redefining Roots that focuses on the key areas of sustainable indoor gardening is a fundraising effort that was recently launched. The funds that will be raised will go toward further developing The Plant a facility in Chicago where this concept is being explored. The whole concept is to explore the potential of sustainable food production using a grow box and
Hydroponics Systems and at least $11,000 is needed to get this project off the ground. Funds raised will go toward purchasing film equipment such as tripods, mounts, lenses, wireless microphones, a DSLR, compact flash cards, and terabytes of storage for the footage.
This effort is expected to grow beyond Chicago and the Mid-West and there are plans in the pipeline to take the project to different parts of the United States and gradually across the entire globe. John Edel is the director of the facility and his vision is to refresh the current model of urban sustainability. He has acquired the required finding to transform old, abandoned, and decaying buildings into a flourishing community of energetic individuals who operate and work collectively on various projects. The first objective in this project is the resurrection of the old Chicago Peer Foods packing facility into a self-sustaining facility with a microbrewery, a fish hatchery, a vertical garden, and zero waste.
Bubbly Dynamics of Chicago is a manufacturing firm that helps revitalize cities with their modern technologies that bring sustainable farming to the next level. For the benefit of the public, the entire progress of the project will be documented on video to make it easier to replicate their achievements.
